Embrace orthodontics Lisburn is a specialist orthodontic practice, owned by sisters Sinead and Grainne McAvinchey.   We opened in May 2015 and have continued to grow our patient base.  We have a team of dedicated staff who enjoy providing the highest quality of care, getting to know our patients and watching them reach the end of their treatment with the best results possible.

Sinead McAvinchey (BDS hons, MFDS, MOrth, MPhil)

Sinead graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2003 with BDS (Hons) and the prestigious Marshall Swan medal for top graduating student. She completed her Vocational Training in the Shore Road Dental practice, Holywood. This was followed by 2 years in the School of Dentistry where she gained further experience in paediatric and restorative dentistry, orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery. She is a member of the Royal College of surgeons Edinburgh having achieved the Gold Medal in her entrance exam. In 2006 Sinead started her orthodontic training at Birmingham dental School. During her three year training pathway she achieved the Gold Medal in her exit exam and a Masters degree from Birmingham University.  Sinead has since worked as an orthodontist in specialist practice for the past 15 years.

Grainne McAvinchey (BDS hons, MFDS, MOrth, MPhil)

Grainne graduated from Queens University Belfast in 2006 with BDS (Hons). Following University she completed a General Professional Training pathway where she worked in general dental practice (Ballyclare), the Orthodontic Department at Braid Valley Hospital, the School of dentistry (restorative department) and the Community Dental Service and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. She then completed a year at Altnagelvin Area hospital gaining further experience in orthodontics and maxillofacial surgery. In 2009 Grainne commenced her orthodontic training at Birmingham dental School and gained her Masters degree from Birmingham University. Grainne has published articles in several peer reviewed Journals including Dental Update, the British Orthodontic Society Clinical effectiveness Bulletin and Angle online. Grainne has worked as a orthodontist in a specialist practice since 2012.
